Insights on Living E-letter December 2003 issue Is belief in God enough? I attended a holiday party and the conversation turned toward God. A person mentioned that believing in God is enough. I asked if belief in God really is enough. The individuals who flew planes into the World Trade Center buildings believed in God and were capable of killing over 3,000 people in that act. Is belief in God enough? Anyone can believe in God. Is there love in that belief? God is love. God loves us greatly. Our view of that love is seen in the life of Jesus Christ. God created Himself in the womb of Mary so that He could minister to us by teaching us about His love for us and about what is really important in life, loving and serving one another. Jesus’ ministry culminated when He was nailed to a cross, the ultimate sacrifice of His life, so that we may have a relationship with Him. Every moment of every day He seeks to be a part of our lives, patiently waiting, longing for our love. A disciple asked what commandment is most important. Jesus replied, "Loving God with all of your heart, mind, soul and body and loving your neighbor as you love yourself." When we truly work to honor these commandments there is no room for anything but love in our lives because we realize how greatly God, family and friends, love us. We realize how much we love them as well. Jesus is the reason for this season and it is a season of love. I invite you to continue to work on honoring these commandments in your day-to-day life because when you do, love abounds from all around! Have a blessed Jesus Season – a season overflowing with His Love, Peace and Joy! Barbara Scripture Mark 12:28-31
